In this case, PHPList can be a plug-and-play solution for newsletter or one-time offer list marketing.

The downsides? Bounce processing is not sophisticated, but relies on message parsing, which is not as reliable as VERP bounce processing.

Also, click and open tracking are not central to PHPList's capabilities. Click and open tracking will require you to enable "experimental" features, and possibly apply source code patches. List segmentation and split testing are difficult, if not impossible, and not native to PHPList's feature set. If you have some other mechanism to track clicks, and can live without opens tracking, PHPList is a solid, free solution.

Pommo is a similar package, also available via control panel installation with many shared hosting providers. Pommo is easier to use, with a simple, well-designed interface. It is primarily intended for sending newsletters; there is no integration of tracking whatsoever. List management capabilities are minimal. Scalability may be an issue. PHPLists boasts capabilities into the hundreds of thousands of subscribers. Pommo is suitable for smaller lists.

Finally, if you have a Wordpress blog, the simplest and most powerful solution might be a plugin away. Mailpress has an amazing array of features available, and as it's a Wordpress plugin can be used in combination with any Wordpress blog. Of course, as a plugin, it offers a look and feel that Wordpress users will be comfortable with, and tight integration with Wordpress is possible, such as automatically sending blog posts via email.

There are cavaets to keep in mind with Mailpress. Although Mailpress boasts a sophisticated feature set, it is still just a plugin, and needs to operate within the confines of Wordpress. This may have plugin compatibility or performance ramifications that are difficult to anticipate. Rather than sending me (web/marketing dept) 25 emails filled with digits and image attachments I'm thinking of installing project management software that will a) be used to measure daily tasks b) assign duties to team members c) be localling hosted on the local office network d) be a tool for planning e) provide ticketing process for the buying department. I'm thinking this will need to be run off of a database (mysql). Software I'm interested in using Microsoft Project Standard for Project management - because we are currently redesigning and rolling out a new website (or MS Project Pro but it's $ 999.99 and I don't think I can get my boss to sign off on that), MS Access (for a ticketing system). I've looked at Open Source solutions but they all seem...inadequate. I may have answered my own question in there but thanks for helping out. Just need to weed through all my thoughts. Intel Cuts Electric Cords With Wireless Power System SAN FRANCISCO (AFP) - Intel on Thursday showed off a wireless electric power system that analysts say could revolutionize modern life by freeing devices from transformers and wall outlets. Intel chief technology officer Justin Rattner demonstrated a Wireless Energy Resonant Link as he spoke at the California firm's annual developers forum in San Francisco. Electricity was sent wirelessly to a lamp on stage, lighting a 60 watt bulb that uses more power than a typical laptop computer. Most importantly, the electricity was transmitted without zapping anything or anyone that got between the sending and receiving units. "The trick with wireless power is not can you do it; it's can you do it safely and efficiently," Intel researcher Josh Smith said in an online video explaining the breakthrough. "It turns out the human body is not affected by magnetic fields; it is affected by elective fields. So what we are doing is transmitting energy using the magnetic field not the electric field." Examples of potential applications include airports, offices or other buildings that could be rigged to supply power to laptops, mobile telephones or other devices toted into them. The technology could also be built into plugged in computer components, such as monitors, to enable them to broadcast power to devices left on desks or carried into rooms, according to Smith. "Initially it eliminates chargers and eventually it eliminates batteries all together," analyst Rob Enderle of Enderle Group said of Intel's wireless power system. "That is potentially a world changing event. This is the closest we've had to something being commercially available in this class." Previous wireless power systems consisted basically of firing lightning bolts from sending to receiving units. Smith says Intel's wireless power system is still in an early stage of development and much research remains before it can be brought to market. Rattner spoke of technological transformations he expects by the year 2050. "You'd like to cut the last cord," Smith said. Didn't Nikola Tesla invent something that transmitted electricity wire lessly? I also think he had some kind kind of Idea to have the whole world powered by wireless electricity but he never had the enough of a budget to get his project of the drawing board. I cant remember clearly since it was a while ago since I read about him. Just throwing that out there.

If Intel are betting on it I guess it will get a big push. Still I suspect the blanket statement that magnetic field don't affect humans might come under some scrutiny. Also you use similar often. When you use your proximity security card to get in the door: its being powered by magnetic field. There are lots of induction devices out there. Magnetic without electrical likely does not propagate well: you will have trouble getting distance. If Intel are going to push this for laptops & such, maybe you are going to have to wind coils under the coffee table or floor? Might get some strange effects on any unintentional conducting loops? Think I'll pass living in a high magnetic field for now.

I deleted mine unopened. If you look carefully, there are so many grammatical and other errors, it was obviously sent by someone who doesn't speak English. Scam? Oh yes !!

The guy who said the FBI, he is correct, they can find the sender from the IP address and through the web hosting in the United Kingdom.
